Right to Information

Isaac Regional Council is endeavouring to make it easier for you to access information about Council business and operations. This includes information about our Councillors, policies, financial reports, public registers, meetings and documents relating to our decisions. We will also continue to make appropriate protections for certain types of information, including your personal information.

What is Right to Information?

On 1 July 2009 the  Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act 2009) and the Information Privacy Act 2009  (IP Act 2009) were implemented byt the Queensland government.

RTI Act 2009 aims to '... give a right of access to information' in Isaac Regional Council's 'possession or under its' control unless, on balance, it is contrary to the public interest to give the access'.

The RTI Act 2009 is complemented by the IP Act 2009 established to provide a right to access and to amend personal information.

How to make an RTI application:

  • Applications must submitted on the RTI IP Access Application Form - follow the link and download the PDF Application Form.  
  • Payment of RTI fee of $38.00 must be paid at time of application, processing and access charges may also apply.

  • All RTI applications should provide sufficient information to allow the identification of the documents you are seeking.

  • Provide an address for notices of the Act to be sent to the applicant .

What is Information Privacy?

The Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act 2009) guides how you can:

  • access your personal information
  • advise us about any changes or amendments to your personal information
    Information Privacy legislation also guides how government agencies manage your personal information. This aspect of the new legislation will apply to Queensland local government as of 1 July 2010.
