Changes on the horizon for four-legged friends

Isaac Regional Council is working towards a series of commitments for dog control management across its 17 vibrant communities.

Mayor Anne Baker said Council has heard residents’ concerns and understands the issues currently being discussed in Isaac.

“There’s no doubt about it that Isaac residents love their dogs – they at times provide us protection, friendship, therapy, exercise and most of all unconditional love,” Mayor Baker said.

“We know there are issues in Isaac, just like other areas across Australia and we are reviewing the way we are doing things.

“We are looking at a very well-thought out program which will be developed to assist in promoting responsible dog ownership including registration and microchipping.

“Council are also exploring the commencement of a Dog Control Advisory Committee that will oversee the success of the program with details to be discussed at December’s Council Meeting.”

If you own a dog please be responsible and make sure it’s registered, micro-chipped, properly fenced and cared for.

Residents can visit www.isaac.qld.gov.au/dog-registration or their local Council office to fill out the registration form and make payment.
