Community invited to join Clermont Water Quality Infoshare
Mayor Anne Baker will lead a forum about water quality in Clermont to genuinely address residents about their concerns on water discolouration issues.
The Clermont Water Quality InfoShare, to be held at the Clermont Civic Centre from 5.30pm on Wednesday, November 28, is a genuine forum for residents to have their say.
Mayor Anne Baker said the session is a chance for residents, ratepayers and business owners to share their concerns about Clermont’s water issues.
“We all have a part to play in managing our important resource – water,” Mayor Baker said.
“Council representatives including myself, other Councillors and senior officers are always happy to meet with individuals and groups to discuss their concerns and their suggestions.
“Just like the conversations with concerned residents held in person in Clermont and by phone so far during November, it is important that we engage with our communities.
“From these discussions, we wanted to meet Clermont residents, ratepayers and business owners for a genuine and constructive discussion about what happened and where to from here.
“As challenging as these conversations are, we need to work together.”
Mayor Baker said Council staff have worked around the clock to rectify the issue.
“We have plans in place and further ones being developed to ensure Council have a much more robust system to cope with poor quality raw water into the future,” she said.
“Council appreciates that the Clermont community are understandably concerned about the water discolouration.
“Our plumbers are undertaking a range of measures to address this.
“The water mains flushing program over the weekend is now complete and the quality seems to have improved however if there is anyone with continued discolouration, I strongly urge you to call 1300 ISAACS, that’s 1300 472 227.
“It’s absolutely crucial for residents to call us so the issue is logged and actioned.”
All residents and business owners are invited to attend the Clermont Water Quality InfoShare from 5.30pm on Wednesday, November 28, at the Clermont Civic Centre’s main hall.
