Cyclone Restoration Works on Middlemount Bus Route
Restoration works on a school bus route northwest of Middlemount that suffered extensive damage caused by Tropical Cyclone Debbie are nearing completion.
More than $1 million has been spent on reconstruction works on Rolfe Creek-May Downs Road and May Downs-Carfax Road.
Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said works included 20,000 cubic metres of gravel re-sheeting and top up material grading on 30km of road.
“Disaster recovery for our roads is a priority and it is a demanding process,” Mayor Baker said.
“These improvements demonstrate Isaac Regional Council’s commitment to addressing these disaster hit roads.
“Students riding on the school bus heading on this route will be able to enjoy a much smoother ride.”
The funding for this road is made possible through the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), a joint initiative of the Commonwealth and State Governments to provide disaster relief and recovery payments and infrastructure restoration to help communities recover from the effects of natural disasters.
