Flying fox dispersal - Round three, Moranbah
Isaac Regional Council advises residents that Naturecall and Council will continue a third round of flying fox dispersals in Moranbah.
Monday October 9 – Friday October 13
4am to 7am
The colony is currently located in the Moranbah East State School grounds on the Williams Street frontage, McCool and Clements Streets. There will be significant noise in and surrounding this area to aim to achieve a successful dispersal.
Flying foxes may land in trees in surrounding yards during the dispersal; this is a natural movement and not the intention of Council’s dispersal.
Council informs residents that abuse towards dispersal staff is unacceptable, counterproductive and will not be tolerated. Residents are not permitted to participate in dispersals, dispersals are considered a Council work site and workplace health and safety requirements apply.
Council advises residents not to disturb or attempt self-dispersal of flying foxes as it is against the law to harm or disturb a flying fox roost and will be counterproductive.
Please secure pets during the dispersal period to avoid interaction with flying foxes, and potential stress associated with noise during dispersal.
Council’s website contains information and links regarding common questions around flying foxes www.isaac.qld.gov.au/flying-foxes.
