Kerbside collection opportunity for the right company

Isaac Regional Council and the Central Highlands Regional Council will be calling tenders in 2019 for kerbside collection in both the Isaac and Central Highlands regions.

This is one of the biggest contracts that these Councils will undertake over the coming years.

Every year kerbside collection trucks working in the Isaac and Central Highlands regions collectively travel a distance that is more than eight times around the world. In a great opportunity for the right company, the Councils will be seeking submissions from interested parties for the provision of waste collection services. Current contract arrangements will expire in October 2019 and the Councils are undertaking a joint procurement activity to replace these contracts.

Submissions in response to the Request for Tender (RFT) are expected to be invited in January 2019 and will close in March 2019, with a decision by both Councils scheduled for April/May 2019. This timeframe is aimed at providing sufficient time for completion of mobilisation activities including new vehicles provision.

The RFT documents will address the difference in required attributes of each Council, including service areas, types, frequencies and separate contract arrangements will be executed.
The contract packages will be:

  • A – Waste and Recycling Collection – Central Highlands Regional Council; and;
  • B – Waste and Recycling Collection – Isaac Regional Council.

Respondents will be invited to address each of the separable portions separately. They will also be invited to address the separable portions collectively where they have identified economies and have the applicable skills and capacity to deliver. Council will inform the community once the RFT is called.
