Local race club looks to celebrate winning way forward

Spring racing fever is running high in Moranbah as Treasure Park gets set to welcome a bumper crowd to the track on Saturday, November 10.

Already one of the biggest days on the local racing calendar, the Moranbah Race Club Spring Carnival is shaping up to welcome its largest crowd to date on the weekend.

The family-friendly day will include local races, fashions on the field and the entertaining Men’s undies race along with a jumping castle for the kids and live music by Out Of Our Trio.

The feature event of the race program will be the $10,000 Isaac Regional Council Class B cup handicap over 1400 metres.

Mayor Anne Baker said Isaac Regional Council is proud to be the major sponsor as part of a three year funding agreement through the Isaac Community Grants program.

“Race days are a great opportunity for residents to glam up a little, meet up with friends or neighbours and have some fun cheering on the horses and jockeys,” Mayor Baker said.

“The Moranbah Race Club committee and volunteers work tirelessly year after year to bring quality racing programs to the town and have done so for over two decades.

“Community events like these simply can’t continue to happen without the sponsorship and backing of Council, local business and industry, or the support of the wonderful crowds who attend.

“Council is pleased to be the major sponsor of this meet and we hope it attracts people from all over the region to the racetrack to enjoy what promises to be a great afternoon.”

Treasure Park gates open at 11am and tickets are $15.  Buses run frequently throughout the day between the Moranbah Community Workers Club and Treasure Park.
