Second-hand fun for neighbours friends and bargain hunters
Isaac residents across the region are gearing up to take part in Australia’s biggest community and sustainability event in October.
A multi award-winning campaign initiative, Garage Sale Trail is powered by over 140 local councils nation-wide and will be held across the country on Saturday, October 20 and Sunday, October 21.
It is expected that this year’s weekend long event will involve more Australians than ever before, who will choose to reuse at over 15,000 garage sale events throughout Australia.
The initiative is run by Australian not-for-profit Garage Sale Trail Foundation and exists to create positive social and environmental change in communities.
Mayor Anne Baker said the events being hosted in communities in the Isaac region present a fun and social way for Council to encourage residents to recycle and reuse.
“Reusing and recycling is good for the community and good for the planet too,” Mayor Baker said.
“The Garage Sale Trail events across Isaac offer a unique opportunity for residents to clear out their pre-loved items, find treasure and have some fun.
“It also provides a way meet your neighbours and connect with the community whilst decluttering and making a few extra dollars on your unwanted goods.
“Council is really pleased to be involved in this great community initiative for the second year.
“I would encourage residents to get involved in one of the locally organised community car boot or garage sale events, or to jump on the trail and register their own garage sale.”
