Collection and Use of Personal Information

Isaac Regional Council is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and the Queensland Privacy Principles (QPPs). 

QPP 5 obliges us to advise you of certain matters when collecting your personal information. This collection notice sets out those matters, and explains how we will manage the collection, use, disclosure and storage of your personal information. 

Who is collecting your personal information? 

Your personal information is being collected by Isaac Regional Council and our internet service provider.  

Who is your personal information collected from/how is your personal information collected and why? 

Our web measurement tool and internet service providers log statistical information from your visit to our site. This information is anonymous, and we do not use the information to identify individual users or their browsing activities. In the unlikely event of an investigation, a law enforcement agency or other government agency may exercise its legal authority to inspect our log files. 

Statistical data collected includes: 

  • Server (IP) address 
  • The domain (e.g. .gov, .com, .edu, .au, etc) 
  • What browser is being used 
  • Date and time of the visit 
  • What pages were accessed and what documents were downloaded 
  • The previous site visited 

Search terms used in this website’s search engine may also be collected. This information is used to identify frequently requested information and assists us to improve the services we provide. 

We may collect personal information that you choose to give us via online forms, online registrations, feedback provided on Speak Up Isaac or by email. 

Authority for collection 

We collect your personal information in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009 (Qld) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). 

Who will we disclose your personal information to? 

Personal information collected via our website will only be used for the purposes for which it was collected, and for internal management purposes. 

Your information will only be accessed by Council Officers who have been authorised to do so. Your information will not be given to any other person or agency unless required by law or unless your permission has been obtained. 

Access to and correction of your personal information 

Our privacy policy explains how you may request access to and/or correction of your personal information.  

Privacy Complaints  

Our privacy policy also explains how you can complain to us if you consider we have breached our obligations to manage your personal information in accordance with the QPPs, and how we deal with privacy complaints.
