CUSTOMER SERVICE COUNTERS AND FOYERS – SERVICE INTERRUPTION

  • In accordance with Australian Government directive issued Sunday 29 March by the Prime Minister, operations at all customer service counters and Council foyers will be suspended from close of business, Monday, 30 March 2020, until further notice.
  • Operations affected include:
    •  Customer service counters and Council foyers at Clermont, Dysart, Glenden, Middlemount, Moranbah, Nebo and St Lawrence.
  • Please direct all enquiries Council’s 24 hour, 7 days a week Customer Service Centre, 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227).

  • Thursday 26th March, Council adopted the Pandemic and Recession Tactical Response Framework which addresses business continuity, disaster management, community support and business community support. The Emergency Management Committee continues to meet throughout the week to ensure Council, as an essential service, continues to maintain our high output of services and support to our region during this ever changing.

SKATE PARKS, PLAYGROUNDS, OUTSIDE GYMS, PUBLIC BBQ FACILITIES CLOSURES 

  • In accordance with Australian Government directive issued Sunday 29 March by the Prime Minister, Council is required to close Council operated skate parks, playgrounds and outside gyms in public outdoor areas.
  • By order of Isaac Region Council, closures will include all BBQ facilities in public outdoor areas.
  • Public park areas remain open however may change at a future date.

  • Council is closely monitoring the current COVID-19 pandemic and implementing responses in accordance with Federal and State Government guidelines. It is the intent of Council to take appropriate precautions in a reasonable manner to ensure that the potential and actual risks relating to the transmission of the COVID-19 virus are managed effectively, efficiently and transparently.
  • At this time, Council is undertaking a series of Event Risk Evaluations in accordance with Federal and State Government Guidelines; for all events hosted at Isaac Regional Facilities The evaluations are undertaken to determine the level of capacity to manage the identified risks and to remain compliant with Government guidelines and in particular; social distancing and sanitisation. This further extends to compliance with Federal Government directions from the Prime Minister.
  • Council recognises that these steps are unfortunate and may cause some level of inconvenience, however, the decision to suspend these events indefinitely has not been taken lightly and is implemented in accordance with current Federal and State Guidelines and in the interests of the health and well-being of our residents.
  • Council would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and thank the community for their understanding at this time.

CAMPGROUND CLOSURES

  • Council wishes to advise following Queensland State Government announcement on Wednesday 25 March in relation to the closure of all campgrounds in national parks, state forests and state managed recreation and protected areas, in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, Council must now also close Council operated camp sites.
  • This includes all sites within the Isaac Region as outlined below:
    • St Lawrence Recreation Grounds
    • Carmila Beach
    • Notch Point/Yarrawonga
    • Lake Elphinstone
    • Mt Britton
    • Theresa Creek Dam
    • Flaggy Rock
  • The closure of camping grounds does not include residential caravan parks.
  • People who have camp sites booked will receive a full refund for unused camping permits.

LIBRARIES, MUSEUMS, GALLERIES AND COMMUNITY AND RECREATION CENTRES - SERVICE INTERRUPTION

  • Operations to Council libraries, museums, galleries and community and recreation centres will be suspended to meet the latest Australian Government directives from close of business, Wednesday, 25 March 2020.
  • Operations affected include:
    • All libraries (Carmila Library, Clermont Library, Dysart Library, Glenden Library, Middlemount Library, Moranbah Library, Nebo Library, St Lawrence Library)
    • Museums (Clermont Historical Centre and Historic Nebo Museum)
    • Galleries (Coalface Art Gallery)
    • Community and recreation centres (Broadsound Centenary Hall, St Lawrence, Carmila Memorial Hall, Clairview Community Centre, Clarke Creek Community Centre, Clermont Civic Centre, Dysart Civic Centre, Dysart Recreation Centre, Flaggy Rock Community and Recreation Centre, Glenden Recreation Centre, Ibilbie Community Centre, Middlemount Community Hall, Moranbah Community Centre, Nebo Memorial Hall, Nebo Recreation Centre)
    • Pools (all pools currently closed)

  • It has been determined that general operations of the St Lawrence and Flaggy Rock Swimming Pools present sufficient risk to participants to impose an indefinite suspension taking effect at the close of business on Monday 24 March 2020.

At 12 midday, Monday 23 March, 2020, gymnasiums in Council owned properties at Glenden, Dysart and Nebo will be the subject of closure for an indefinite period of time.

GREG CRUICKSHANK AQUATIC CENTRE, MORANBAH – SERVICE INTERRUPTION

Current programs and events hosted at the Greg Cruikshank Aquatic Centre that are the subject of current evaluations include:

  • General Operations
  • Learn to Swim
  • Squad Swimmers
  • Lap Swimmers

It has been determined that general operations of the Greg Cruickshank Aquatic Centre present sufficient risk to participants to impose an indefinite suspension taking effect at the close of business on Monday 23 March 2020. Please note that the indoor pool area will be closed from 12 midday.

GLENDEN RECREATION CENTRE – SERVICE INTERRUPTION

At this time, Council is undertaking a series of Event Risk Evaluations for all events hosted at the Glenden Recreation Centre in accordance with Federal Government Guidelines. The evaluations are undertaken to determine the level of capacity to manage the identified risks and to remain compliant with Government guidelines and in particular; social distancing and sanitisation.

Current programs and events hosted at the Glenden Recreation Centre that are the subject of current evaluations include:

  • Active Kids
  • Tumble Tots
  • Social (Evening) Sport Events

It has been determined that these events present sufficient risk to participants to impose an indefinite suspension taking effect at the close of business on Friday 20th March 2020.

DYSART RECREATION CENTRE – SERVICE INTERRUPTION

At this time, Council is undertaking a series of Event Risk Evaluations for all events hosted at the Dysart Recreation Centre in accordance with Federal Government Guidelines. The evaluations are undertaken to determine the level of capacity to manage the identified risks and to remain compliant with Government guidelines and in particular; social distancing and sanitisation.

Current programs and events hosted at the Dysart Recreation Centre that are the subject of current evaluations include:

  • Tumble Tots
  • Nifty Fun
  • After School Sports
  • Social (Evening) Sports Events

It has been determined that these events present sufficient risk to participants to impose an indefinite suspension taking effect at the close of business on Friday 20th March 2020.

COUNCIL LIBRARIES REMAIN OPEN, SUSPENSION TO PROGRAMS CURRENTLY PROVIDED

Council advise a suspension until further notice of scheduled children's programming at libraries across the region.

This includes weekly programming sessions such as:

  • Baby Bounce
  • Story Time
  • Rhyme Time
  • Play Time
  • Crafts in addition to early learning community outreach programming, such as First 5 Forever Pop Ups @ The Park.

Libraries across the Isaac region will remain open to all members of our public and all ages.

This is a precautionary measure for the health and wellbeing of our youngest residents and their care providers.


Update - 19 March 2020, 15:30

  • Council is closely monitoring the situation and senior management meet regularly to review business operations and service delivery. This webpage will be updated if changes are made to council’s service delivery as a result of COVID-19.
  • Council undertakes regular business continuity planning to ensure we are well prepared to respond to a range of situations.
  • Council is working closely with Queensland Health and acts upon their advice as the lead heath agency responsible for the COVID-19 response and Australian Government advice in relation to gatherings.
  • Regular updates will continue to be provided to workers, volunteers, contractors and customers will be advised if any changes are required.
  • Council will continue to review operations as the situation evolves. Council services continue to operate as per normal business hours.
  • Council Libraries, Museums and Galleries region-wide will remain open for business and will continue to remain open during normal operating hours pending advice from the Australian and Queensland governments and subject to ongoing risk assessment. 
  • Council Library staff will continue to monitor the number of people attending council libraries in response to Australian Government advice and protocols in relation to the COVID-19 response. We may temporarily limit access to help manage this.
  • Council is proactively encouraging workers to maintain personal hygiene and we are committed to providing a hygienic work environment. We are encouraging everyone in the community to maintain strong personal hygiene and make responsible choices for the benefit of themselves, their families and our community. We encourage everyone to stay informed by accessing accurate information from the authorities responsible for managing the response to COVID-19 and act upon that advice.
