Water Restrictions

Level 2 water restrictions, St Lawrence

Isaac Regional Council would like to advise St Lawrence residents that Level 2 water restrictions will come into effect from Monday, 14 December 2020.

Predictions indicate the water level will be 1.0 metre below the overflow level of the spillway of St Lawrence Creek Weir on this date, which supplies the local water treatment plant.  This is the trigger for Level 2 water restrictions.

Level 3 water restrictions, Middlemount

Isaac Regional Council, in conjunction with Anglo American, would like to advise Middlemount residents that Level 3 water restrictions will come into effect from Monday, 11 January 2021.

Recent rainfall has not sufficiently replenished regional dam and river levels. Bundoora Dam remains low and the ongoing mine operations, residential and other commercial water users mean that water conservation is an ongoing concern.

Residents should be aware that Isaac Regional Council, Middlemount Golf Club, Middlemount sporting fields, Middlemount Pony Club and the Middlemount Race Club all use recycled water for irrigating their premises. Residents will be notified through Council’s website, Facebook page and a letterbox drop to reconfirm the restrictions. We encourage residents to share this important message with their families, friends, workmates and neighbours.

Water Conservation Measures

Watering days

  • Odd numbered premises water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
  • Even numbered premises water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
  • Properties without a Council prescribed street number may water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
  • The reason for these watering days is to reduce the cost of infrastructure upgrades and operations, keeping the cost of service low.

These measures are best practice and should be used all year round.

  • No hand held hoses between 9am-5pm daily
  • No fixed sprinklers, micro-spray, drip irrigation systems nor unattended hoses between 9am to 5pm daily
  • No watering between 9am-5pm daily
  • Private cars, trucks, boats and motor flushing to be cleaned on grass areas where possible using buckets and a final rise with a water efficient nozzle hose at any time.
  • Gutters should not be cleaned by using a hand-held hose
  • Paths not to be hosed down unless using a bucket and mop or high pressure device. Exceptions: if cleaning is required as a result of accidents, removal of algae growth, moss, etc or prior to painting.

They are not enforceable unless under specific water restrictions level 1-4.
