Dysart Water Treatment Plant upgrade
Phase 2 of Dysart’s Water Treatment Plant upgrades is being undertaken with $5.5 million funding from the Queensland Government to address water quality.
The new raw water tank, dissolved air flotation system, granular activated carbon filters and a clear water tank are functionally complete and operational.
Council’s Water and Wastewater Team and the construction contractor Monadelphous Engineering are working through the final deliverables to achieve completion of the contract.
Phase 1 of Dysart Water Treatment Plant Upgrade project was completed in 2015.
Phase 1 and 2 improvements will ensure Dysart has a reliable potable water supply and improved water quality well into the future.
Phase 2 Includes
- A dissolved air flotation system for algae removal. This system incorporates additional raw water pumping and improvements to wastewater and sludge transfer systems.
- Additional granular activated carbon filters at the end of the water treatment process to improve organic chemical removal and improve taste and odour issues.
- The new 0.5ML clear water tank allows for a continuous water production stream to the Dysart network.
- Upgrades and extensions to the automatic control systems and SCADA systems.
- Upgrades to the incoming power supply and the provision of a generator as a back-up power supply.
