CELEBRATIONS TO RECOGNISE PURE PEOPLE POWER IN COMMUNITIES
Residents across the Isaac region are set to honour the achievements and contributions of community members and celebrate the great Aussie spirit this Australia Day.
Kicking celebrations off on Friday, January 25 is a regional event to announce the Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Event of the Year at the Moranbah Community Centre from 6pm.
In addition to the presentation of these awards, the inaugural regional event will also provide an opportunity to welcome Isaac’s newest Australians during the citizenship ceremony.
Events happening around the region on Saturday, January 26 include a triathlon in Moranbah, festive street parade in Clermont and a host of local award ceremonies and family activities across Isaac communities.
Mayor Anne Baker said the events were an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the pure people power which energises and drives the communities of the region.
“Australia Day celebrations are being held in Carmila, Clermont, Dysart, Glenden, Middlemount, Moranbah, Nebo and St Lawrence,” Mayor Baker said.
“A day for all Australians, Australia Day represents a great opportunity to connect with friends, family, neighbours and other residents in our communities.
“It’s also a chance to celebrate all the things we love about Australia and to appreciate how blessed we are to live in this great country and region.
“I encourage everyone to come along to the awards ceremonies to acknowledge and applaud the many outstanding people in our community and join in one of the great family-friendly events on offer.”
