Nebo Bush Poet's Smoko
Nebo Bush Poet’s Smoko
Sunday 23 October 2022
8am to 11.30am
Historic Nebo Museum
Now celebrating its 21st year, Council is proud to present the Nebo Bush Poet’s Smoko, dedicated to keeping alive the great Australian tradition of bush poetry. Visitors will be entertained by performances from local poets and visitors, and anyone is welcome to perform. Some recite poems they have written or give renditions of classics such as “The Man from Snowy River” or “Clancy of the Overflow”; others tell tall tales.
Poet Dan Lockyer, a long-time supporter of the event, will entertain the crowd and invite locals and visitors to step up to the podium and have their say.
Entry is free of charge. The gate will open at 8am with raffle tickets on sale and a lucky door prize. Smoko will be available for purchase from the Nebo/Sarina Range QCWA.
Tell a tall tale or perform a poem (your original creation or one written by someone else). Register by calling the Nebo Community Hub or at speakup.qld.gov.au
