Well-known weather presenter announced as ambassador

2021 Australia day ambassador for the isaac region jenny woodward

One of Australia’s longest serving weather presenters Jenny Woodward has been announced as the Isaac region’s Australia Day ambassador for 2021.

One of Australia’s longest serving weather presenters Jenny Woodward has been announced as the Isaac region’s Australia Day ambassador for 2021.

Isaac Regional Council will host the ABC TV News identity during Australia Day events at Middlemount, Dysart and Moranbah on 26 January.

Mayor Anne Baker said Jenny Woodward is well known to audiences across Queensland.

“We look forward to welcoming Jenny to the Isaac region and hearing about her stellar career,” Mayor Baker said.

“As an Australia Day Ambassador, she has travelled across many regional and remote parts of the state.

“This year marks 35 years with the ABC and it’s believed Jenny is Australia’s longest serving weather presenter — a title she plans to defend for some time yet.”

Ms Woodward’s television career started in Toowoomba as a presenter and producer, followed by time with the much-loved children’s program, Wombat.

Over the years, she has worked as a writer, editor, producer and presenter over a broad range of shows, but has now become synonymous with the weather.

Ms Woodward has presented the weather from many amazing locations, including the quirky Brisbane Ekka where she was surrounded by a menagerie of noisy and badly behaved creatures of all shapes and sizes.

Ms Woodward’s experience also includes current affairs stories, radio spots and contributions to several books, and is in demand as a guest speaker, compere and facilitator.

This year she will tour in her one-woman stage show – Weathering Well. A potted history of her long career featuring stories, laughs, fashion and live music.

The 2021 Australia Day Awards is an Isaac Regional Council event assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.
