Supporting Queensland's sport and active recreation industry

Queensland's sport and active recreation industry is wide-ranging and plays an important role in encouraging and providing physical activity opportunities to all Queenslanders.

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing significant issues for the industry and is affecting Queenslanders more broadly with a reduction in physical activity opportunities.

The Queensland Government recognises the valuable contribution the sector makes to the Queensland community and economy, and the challenges it is facing during this time. It is committed to supporting the sport and active recreation industry so that it is well-positioned to successfully reactivate when the COVID-19 pandemic has passed.

There will be regular updates during this period. You can also access the latest information via the sport and active recreation news page. Information is available about facility closures, funding programs including FairPlay, and advice for sport and active recreation providers.

Where to get further support

Government support is available to the Queensland community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Information is available on the COVID-19 website. For the most up to date information on directions from the Australian Government about COVID-19, visit australia.gov.au.

It's important to stay connected at this time, and we encourage the sport and active recreation community to keep in touch.
