It’s full steam ahead at Clermont Historical Centre.

Join us on Saturday, 17 August 2023, from 9am to 3pm, for an unforgettable day at the Clermont Historical Centre. Witness the original traction steam engine in action and immerse yourself in the history of the Clermont community.

Highlights of the Day: Smoking Ceremony: Wangan and Jangalingou peoples will be hosting a Smoking Ceremony for all to partake

F5F Rhyme Time: Isaac Libraries will hold a First 5 Forever rhyme time for children, and a variety of outdoor games and children’s activities will be available on the day.

Charcoal on Wood: Catherine Clark Dowden will be hosting two 2-hour Charcoal on Wood workshops. Tentative commencement times for the workshops are 9:30am and 1:00pm. Each workshop runs for two hours and cater for a maximum of 14 participants aged 13 years and over.

Live Steam Engine Demonstration: See how this powerful machine once helped move the town to higher ground after the devastating 1916 flood.

Heritage Celebration: Explore local heritage and learn about the pivotal role of steam engines in our town’s history with a free tour of the museum.

BBQ fundraiser lunch: Clermont RSL will be there on the day cooking up a storm.

The Clermont Historical Centre Open Day is supported by funding from the Regional Arts Development Fund, a partnership between the Queensland Government and Isaac Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
