Library and Information Week (LIW) is an annual event in Australia coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). It promotes the value of libraries and the services they provide, while also recognising the contributions of library and information professionals to society.

This year’s theme it To Read or Not to Read – Literacy Matters

Objectives

  • To celebrate libraries as vistal community resources.
  • To promote the importance of reading, access to information and lifelong learning.
  • To recognise the dedicated professional who works in libraries and information services.
  • To engage the public through staff. engagement, displays and ongoing campaigns.
