An exciting opportunity exists for a permanent full time Team Leader – Horticulture to join our Infrastructure Services team. In this pivotal role, you will assist in programming, organising, and delivering parks and recreation operational and capital programs, while providing strong operational leadership across all parks and recreation activities. As a self-driven professional, you will work closely with your team to offer workload support, on-ground training, education, and guidance to ensure service level expectations are consistently met throughout the municipality. This position is ideal for someone passionate about horticulture and committed to fostering a high-performing, collaborative team environment.
To be successful in this position, you will:
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all team members, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
- Ensure Environmental and Cultural Heritage compliance across all parks and recreation activities.
- Foster a positive customer and community focus in the delivery of parks and recreation services and projects.
- Oversee and manage parks and recreation facilities, plant, and equipment, ensuring they are maintained and operated effectively.
- Supervise and coordinate the delivery of operational programs and capital projects, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
- Provide hands-on leadership, with approximately 80% of duties performed on-site and outside the depot.
- Report on program and project performance, including auditing, resource ordering, and providing advice to the Overseer on efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage daily supervision and allocation of staff, resources, and contractors, including procurement to meet legislative and quality standards.
- Prepare, monitor, and review weekly and monthly work plans, ensuring alignment with operational objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate outputs and costs to demonstrate value and continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Hold or be willing to obtain tertiary qualifications relevant to Horticulture, Parks and Gardens, or Sports Turf Management (minimum Cert III), or demonstrate significant successful experience in a similar role.
If you are successful in this position, you will receive:
- Salary $82,791.82 - $97,373.54 per annum
