Isaac Regional Council is seeking a proactive and detail-driven person to join our dynamic Governance and Corporate Services team as a part-time, fixed-term Governance and Insurance Officer.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Governance and Insurance Officer, you will:
- Manage and coordinate the Council’s insurance portfolio (excluding Workers Compensation)
- Lead the insurance renewal process and ensure comprehensive coverage
- Handle claims management, including complex and disaster-related claims
- Provide expert advice on insurance matters and risk analysis
- Liaise with brokers, insurers, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies
BENEFITS
- Salary: $46.01 per hour + Locality Allowance (CPI 4% Increase from 01/07/25)
- Part Time Hours: Negotiable for the right candidate
- Fixed Term Contract: until 30 November 2026
- Annual Leave: 5 weeks with 17.5% loading (pro rata for part time hours)
- Superannuation: Up to 14% in accordance with IRC’s Certified Agreement

ABOUT YOU
- Experience: Extensive experience and thorough understanding of insurance and claims management.
- Preferred Background: Experience in local government is advantageous but not essential
- Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service and to work within a multi-skilled team environment.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Qualifications: Certificate/Tertiary Qualification in Insurance or Business Studies
