About the role:
The Apprentice Parks and Recreation position is part of our Parks and Recreation Department within the Infrastructure Services Directorate. This hands-on role will give you the opportunity to work outdoors, learn from experienced team members and complete a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens over the duration of your apprenticeship.
Your apprenticeship will see you:
• Help maintain and improve Council’s parks, sportsgrounds, playgrounds and open spaces
• Learn irrigation, spraying, mowing and general gardening practices
• Operate and maintain tools, small plant and equipment
• Undertake labouring duties and assist with community space upkeep
• Receive on-the-job training, mentoring and structured block training to complete your qualification
The role at a glance:
Type:Fixed Term – 3-year Apprenticeship
Hours:Full-time, 76 hours per fortnight
Roster:Monday to Friday, 9-day fortnight (hello long weekends!)
Qualification:Cert III Parks and Gardens

• Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Can follow instructions and work safely as part of a team
• Are committed to completing your apprenticeship training
• Have completed Year 10 or higher
• Hold a current C-Class driver’s licence (or be willing to obtain)
• Have an interest in horticulture, gardening and open spaces
