In this role, you will provide high-quality research, policy analysis, and strategic advice to support Council decision-making. You will play a key role in identifying emerging trends, analysing complex data and translating insights into meaningful recommendations that contribute to community and economic outcomes.
The position is also integral to the coordination of Council’s response to major projects across the region, including mining, renewable energy and critical minerals developments.
Reporting to the Manager Economic Development, you will support with:
- Delivering high-quality research, analysis and reports to inform strategic decision-making.
- Providing policy and legislative advice across a range of Council initiatives.
- Coordinating Council responses to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Social Impact Assessments.
- Contributing to the planning and delivery of major project and industry development initiatives.
- Preparing briefing notes, discussion papers and formal submissions.
- Identifying funding opportunities and support grant applications, reporting and acquittals.
- Engaging and collaborate with internal stakeholders, government agencies, industry and community representatives. Support engagement relating to First Nations and Native Title matters.
To be successful in this role, you must hold (or can obtain prior to the commencement) the following qualifications:

- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience.
You will receive:
- Salary $60.05 - $65.29 per hour (Stream A, Level 7 - 8)
- Flexible part time hours, up to 40 hours per fortnight (Monday to Friday)
- Fixed term, part time contract until March 2027
- 5 weeks annual leave pro rata @ 17.5% loading
- Up to 14.5% super in accordance with Council Policy
