Disposing of asbestos-containing Coloured Sand, Isaac

Council advises residents Colourful Sand products issued by the supplier Educational Colours have been recalled due to them potentially containing Tremolite Asbestos.
The sand is brightly coloured and designed for children to play with for educational purposes.
The coloured sand products in which asbestos has been identified are as follows:
- Kadink 6 x 10g coloured decorative sand (all colours)
- Kadink 1.3kg coloured sand
- Kadink 2kg coloured sand
Further products affected include:
- Active Sandtub 14-piece Sand Castle Building Set
- Blue Magic Sand
- Green Magic Sand
- Pink Magic Sand
These products may have been sold at Officeworks, Target, Kmart, Educating Kids, Modern Teaching Aids and Zart Art between 2020 and 2025.
Schools, daycares or residents that may have the asbestos containing sand in their possession can dispose of this waste safely and for free at the Moranbah Waste Facility.
Any resident or organisation that has these products is asked to contact Council and advise of intended disposal and approximate quantity. The product is to be double bagged prior to transport to the waste facility and should not be placed in general waste bins.
