Clermont water supply continues to improve

Isaac Regional Council is pleased to advise that Clermont's water supply situation continues to improve, with local water storage levels steadily increasing as recovery efforts remain underway.
Council crews will continue monitoring and supporting operations at the Clermont Water Treatment Plant around the clock throughout the weekend to help restore the town's water supply system to normal operations.

Mayor Kelly Vea Vea said the steady improvement was a positive result for the community and reflected the impact of residents' ongoing efforts to conserve water.
"We're seeing encouraging progress in Clermont's water supply recovery, and that's thanks in no small part to the community's willingness to reduce water use during this challenging period," Mayor Vea Vea said.
"Every effort made by residents, businesses and community groups has helped us strengthen our water reserves and move closer to fully restoring normal operations."
With storage levels continuing to improve, Council advises that in addition to general household use being back to normal, all hand-held targeted water use is also now permitted.
This includes:
- Hand watering gardens
- Washing vehicles using a hose with a trigger nozzle
- Filling or topping up swimming pools
However, sprinkler use remains prohibited while recovery efforts continue.
Mayor Vea Vea said Council was taking a measured approach to easing restrictions to ensure the water supply system remained stable.
"While we're pleased with the progress being made, it's important that we continue managing water use responsibly while recovery works continue," she said.
"We're asking everyone to keep doing their part by using water wisely and avoiding sprinkler use so we can maintain this positive momentum."
Residents can continue using water normally for household activities, including showering, bathing, washing clothes and flushing toilets.
Council has also confirmed that Clermont's tap water remains safe to drink.
Mayor Vea Vea thanked Council crews and technical specialists for their ongoing efforts to support the town's water supply.
"Our teams have been working tirelessly to monitor and manage the water treatment plant and broader supply system, and I thank them for their dedication throughout this event," she said.
"We appreciate the patience, understanding and cooperation shown by the Clermont community as we continue working towards a full return to normal operations."
