Update as of Friday, 21 August 2026

Council would like to advise Moranbah residents to follow temporary water saving measures to help maintain the town's water supply due to operational issues at the Moranbah Water Treatment Plant.

A recent pump failure, which has now been rectified, resulted in the plant being temporarily offline and water reserve levels becoming depleted. To assist in restoring storage levels and maintaining a reliable water supply for the community, residents are asked:

Not to use sprinklers on Monday, 24 August, Wednesday, 26 August and Friday, 28 August 2026.

By reducing non-essential water use on these days, the community can help preserve water levels within the reservoir and support the continued delivery of water to all residents.

These restrictions are only in place on the days specified above.

Council is committed to maintaining a high standard of water quality and thanks the community for its cooperation, understanding and support while storage levels are replenished.
