Clermont Water Service Partially Restored, Restrictions Still in Place

Clermont’s local water supply has been partially restored after crews worked through the night at the water treatment plant, where low alkalinity levels in the raw water source caused the temporary shutdown.

Council asks residents to continue to restrict their water use to essential uses only, as operational works at the plant are ongoing.

Residents are requested to:

• Cease watering lawns, gardens or plants
• Flush toilets only when necessary
• Only shower or bathe if essential
• Avoid all non-essential water use, including washing vehicles and other discretionary activities

While there is currently water available within the system, supplies may become impacted if water use remains at normal levels while works continue. Storage levels across Clermont remain critically low.

Water restrictions are expected to be lifted following the completion of the works. Residents may notice temporary discolouration or air in their taps when supply is restored.

This discolouration can occur when households have eliminated all water from their pipes.

If this occurs, Council advises residents to run a cold tap for a few minutes until the water clears. 

Council understands that interruptions to water services can be inconvenient and appreciates the community's patience and cooperation while these works are undertaken. 

To support residents during the outage, Council provided free bottled and BYO container water to residents.
