Update as of Friday, 2 October 2026 at 5pm.

Council advises residents that water flushing will take place in Clermont today, Friday, 2 October 2026.

Following the lifting of water restrictions, increased water usage has resulted in some areas experiencing temporary water discolouration. To address this, Council will be flushing the water network to remove sediment from the pipes and restore water quality to its normal standard.

Residents who notice discoloured water are advised to run their cold water taps until the water clears.

Flushed water can be used on your garden or lawn.

Avoid using washing machines until your water runs clear.

Any ongoing discolouration should be reported so local teams can investigate. If you are experiencing discoloured water at your property, please report the issue to Council as soon as possible on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227).

Update as of Thursday, 1 October 2026 at 5pm.

Some Clermont residents may be experiencing discoloured water.

Once restrictions were removed yesterday, water demand spiked. The speed of water passing through the main pipes disturbed settled sediment, which has led to localised discolouration.

Is the water safe?

Clermont’s water is safe for drinking and household use. Council is actively monitoring the water quality throughout the town and surrounds, and it remains within the requirements and quality standards of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

What to do if your water is discoloured

Flush cold water taps until water runs clear. Flushing will pull through newer water.

Thank you for your patience. For more information, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227), or email records@isaac.qld.gov.au.

Thanks to Clermont residents for conserving water while we repaired and replaced both raw water pumps at Theresa Creek Dam.

Water storage levels have improved enough for the emergency alert for Clermont to be cancelled and the community returns to level one water restrictions.

While the emergency situation has passed, Council crews remain focused on restoring the Theresa Creek Dam pump system. One pump is operating at full capacity, while work continues to return the second pump to full service. Council also has a diesel pump on stand by should it be required.

These issues relate to the Theresa Creek Dam pump infrastructure and are unrelated to the recent water supply shortages experienced in Clermont.

  • Outdoor watering is only permitted between 5am to 9am and 5pm to 9pm on designated watering days.

Update as of Tuesday, 29 September 2026 at 5.30pm

What's happened

On Monday, 28 September 2026, both of the water pumps at the Theresa Creek Dam, which supplies raw water to Clermont, failed.

This prompted Council to issue an emergency conserve water notice.

One pump has been replaced and is now pumping water into our system.

We are working on short-term repairs on the other pump, with the aim of replacing this pump once Clermont's water supply has stabilised.

What's next

While we have one operational pump at Theresa Creek Dam, Council has deployed extra staff to start refilling our tanks and processing water again.  Staff will work overnight to monitor the water coming into the plant.

We are urgently investigating what caused these failures. Divers are inspecting the water source pipes to check and clear any blockages.

Replenishing our supplies and investigating the cause will take some hours. In the meantime, the less water Clermont uses, the longer our storage will last while we refill our water stores.

If you require additional water, a tanker is parked at the Isaac Regional Council Library, 24 Herschel St, Clermont. Please bring your own containers. Bottled water is also available at the same location.

Thank you Clermont

The Clermont community has used considerably less water since our urgent notice was issued.

At 4.30pm yesterday, water consumption was 29.9 litres per second, and now, thanks to our community our use is down to 15.4 litres per second.

Thank you for your patience. For more information, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227), or email records@isaac.qld.gov.au.

Update as of Tuesday, 29 September 2026 at 12.30pm

Council is urging all Clermont residents to immediately stop all outdoor water use and restrict indoor water use to essential needs only.

Water consumption remains critically high, and there is a risk the town could run out of water tonight if usage is not significantly reduced.

Council crews are continuing work on the Theresa Creek Dam pump system. Early investigations suggest a blockage in the intake pipes may be affecting operations, with divers being deployed to inspect and clear the infrastructure if necessary. Water conservation remains essential while these works are underway.

Residents are asked to:

  • Stop all outdoor water use immediately.
  • Limit indoor water use to essential purposes only, including drinking, cooking, hygiene and toilet use.
  • Avoid any non-essential water use.

Council thanks residents for their cooperation and will provide further updates as information becomes available.

These issues relate to the Theresa Creek Dam pump infrastructure and are unrelated to the recent water supply shortages experienced in Clermont.
