Hazard reduction burns, Moranbah

Council advises Moranbah residents that public safety vegetation management activities (hazard reduction burns) will be undertaken in the area behind Croker Court, progressing through to and including Utah Drive, Lamberts Drive, Bligh Court and Langford Court starting:

Saturday 18 July (WEATHER PERMITTING)

This work is being carried out by the Queensland Fire Department to control flammable vegetation prior to the bushfire season.

Please remove any personal items from outside your property in the marked areas, as machinery will be working close to fences.

Hazard reduction activities will be subject to prevailing weather conditions. Council advises residents to prepare for possible smoke hazards and related health impacts and recommends the following steps: 

  •  Keep all door and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes. 
  •  Residents with breathing difficulties are advised to remain indoors and have any medication close by. 
  •  Refrain from hanging out washing to minimise damage from falling embers or smoke. 
  •  Retract pool covers and stow any outdoor furniture to prevent ember burns. 
  •  Be aware that snakes and other vermin may be on the move because of the burning bushland.
