Isaac communities to gather in remembrance this Anzac Day

Isaac Regional Council is inviting community members across the region to attend local services on Saturday, 25 April, to mark ANZAC Day and honour those who have served.
Seventeen services will be held throughout the region, bringing together veterans, current serving members, families, school groups and community members to reflect on the courage, service and mateship that continue to shape the nation.
Isaac Regional Council Mayor Kelly Vea Vea said ANZAC Day is a moment for the community to pause and reflect on the people behind the history, ordinary Australians who were called to do extraordinary things.
“ANZAC Day reminds us that the freedoms and way of life we enjoy today were built on the service and sacrifice of generations of Australians and New Zealanders,” Mayor Vea Vea said.
“Many of those who served came from towns and communities just like ours, from working families, rural properties, coast and country, people who understood effort, responsibility and looking out for one another.”
“This day is not about celebrating war. It is about remembering its cost, honouring those who bore that cost on our behalf, and committing ourselves to live in a way that reflects their courage, loyalty and care for their mates.”
Mayor Vea Vea said ANZAC Day also recognises the families who stood behind those who served, often carrying the weight of that service long after the uniforms were put away.
“For every person who served, there were families at home holding everything together, raising children, running households, and living with uncertainty,” she said.
“Many carried loss, and many still do. That quiet strength is part of the ANZAC story, and it deserves to be recognised alongside those who served.”
