Media release: Clermont Planned Water Service Interruption

Clermont residents are advised that the local water supply will be temporarily interrupted tonight,
Sunday 9 August 2026, between 8pm and 4am while operational works are undertaken at the water treatment plant.

To support residents during the outage:

• Bottled water will be available outside Clermont Library, Herschel Street from 6.30pm.
  Limit: 6 bottles per person.
• A water tanker will be available outside Clermont Library, Herschel Street from 8pm.
  Limit: 20 litres per person.

Residents may experience a complete loss of water supply during this period. Households are encouraged to store sufficient water for drinking, cooking, pets and other essential needs before the interruption begins.

Council recommends households:

• Fill clean containers with drinking water and water for essential use.
• Minimise water use before the interruption begins.
• Store enough water for family members, pets and basic household needs.

The outage is required due to ongoing operational challenges caused by low alkalinity levels in the raw water source, which are affecting the treatment plant's performance. The plant operates within strict water quality requirements and automatically shuts down when treatment parameters fall outside acceptable operating limits.

Importantly, the water currently being supplied to the community remains safe to drink and continues to meet all required drinking water quality guidelines. Protecting public health remains Council's highest priority, and water quality continues to be closely monitored.
