Isaac Regional Council advises that the eastern-facing beach at Notch Point is now permanently closed to all vehicles to protect the area's sensitive environment, including turtle nesting sites, sand dunes, and endangered coastal thicket habitats.

Following a series of temporary, partial closures, all works have now been completed, and the camping grounds are fully reopened, however the beach will remain permanently closed to vehicles.

The vehicle closure applies only to the eastern-facing beach, ensuring the preservation of this crucial habitat.

Access to the boat launch area on the southern-facing inlet remains open and unaffected by this closure.

This closure is part of Isaac Regional Council's ongoing commitment as a member of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority’s Reef Guardian Council Program.

Through this program, local councils undertake management actions to protect the Reef and its surrounding ecosystems.

The Reef Guardian Councils contribute to the Reef’s long-term resilience by supporting initiatives outside of the Marine Park boundaries.

The Australian Government has contributed funds to this project through the Reef Guardian Councils Program – Activating Local Councils’ Reef Action Plans grants.
