UPDATE #3 Water conservation, Carmila
Published on 16 July 2026
Council advises that the raw water being pumped from the Carmila Creek bore field remains variable in quality and cannot currently be treated at the Carmila Water Treatment Plant.
As a result, all residents and businesses are requested to moderate their water usage, and to conserve water wherever possible until further notice.
While water supply is being maintained, excessive or unnecessary use may impact system stability.
Residents are advised that potable water continues to be transported into Carmila by tanker. This water meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and remains safe for consumption.
Where possible, water required for use outside of the Carmila township should be sourced from alternative supplies whilst Council Officers work to restore normal operations at the Carmila Water Treatment Plant.
Efforts to bring the treatment process back online continue, including most recently:
- Preventive maintenance cleaning of the Carmila Reservoir, and
- Preventive maintenance scouring of the water network pipework throughout Carmila.
A further update will be provided at 4pm on Monday, 20 July 2026.
Council thanks residents and businesses for their cooperation and understanding.
Thank you for your patience. For more information, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227), or email records@isaac.qld.gov.au.
