Isaac Regional Council would like to advise the Clermont community of the installation of a weighbridge at the Clermont Waste Management Facility due to Queensland Government legislation requirements.

The installation works are expected to commence Thursday, 29 February 2024 and it is planned the weighbridge will be in operation for public use from 1 July 2024.

During the scheduled three-month installation works residents may notice changes to:

  • The entry and exit points at the facility.
  • Road layout and traffic management on the site.
  • Drop off points for some waste items.

Residents are advised to maintain caution during the works and follow any directional signage in place at each site.

This project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s 2022-24 Local Government Levy Ready Grant Program in association with Isaac Regional Council.

Under the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 201, landfill sites in Queensland require a weighbridge to accurately measure the leviable waste material received for landfill.

In the Isaac region, four facilities operate as landfill sites, where waste can be buried on site, and the other five are transfer stations, where waste must be transported to a landfill site for final disposal.

Two of Council’s landfill sites at Moranbah and Dysart are equipped with weighbridges and all waste materials must be weighed on the way into the site or when leaving the site as recyclables.

Clermont is the next town to have a weighbridge installed, with Glenden soon transferring from a landfill site to a waste transfer station.

Council is committed to minimising disruptions during the construction phase and thanks the community for its patience.

Further updates about the project will be provided over the following months.
