Water Restrictions

Level 2 water restrictions Middlemount

Isaac Regional Council in conjunction with Anglo American advises Middlemount residents that Level 2 water restrictions will come into effect from Monday, 18 November 2019.

These restrictions are due to ongoing drought conditions, current decline rate of Bundoora Dam and ongoing requirements of mine operations, residential and other commercial water users.

Level 2 water restrictions Carmila

Isaac Regional Council advises Carmila residents that Level 2 Water Restrictions will come into effect on Thursday, 26 September 2019. There is presently no water passing over the weir 100 metres upstream of the Carmila Creek bore, which supplies the local water treatment plant. This is the trigger for Level 2 water restrictions.

Level 1 water restrictions St Lawrence

Isaac Regional Council advises St Lawrence residents that Level 1 water restrictions will come into effect immediately from Friday, 4 October, 2019. Water levels are currently greater than 0.5 of a metre below the spillway of the St Lawrence Creek Weir, which supplies the local water treatment plant. This is the trigger for Level 1 water restrictions.

Water Conservation Measures

Watering days

  • Odd numbered premises water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
  • Even numbered premises water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday
  • Properties without a Council prescribed street number may water on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
  • The reason for these watering days is to reduce the cost of infrastructure upgrades and operations, keeping the cost of service low.

These measures are best practice and should be used all year round.

  • No hand held hoses between 9am-5pm daily
  • No fixed sprinklers, micro-spray, drip irrigation systems nor unattended hoses between 9am to 5pm daily
  • No watering between 9am-5pm daily
  • Private cars, trucks, boats and motor flushing to be cleaned on grass areas where possible using buckets and a final rise with a water efficient nozzle hose at any time.
  • Gutters should not be cleaned by using a hand-held hose
  • Paths not to be hosed down unless using a bucket and mop or high pressure device. Exceptions: if cleaning is required as a result of accidents, removal of algae growth, moss, etc or prior to painting.

They are not enforceable unless under specific water restrictions level 1-4.
