The Nebo Bush Poets event is a cherished celebration of outback storytelling, rhythm, and rhyme that captures the essence of rural Queensland life. Held annually in the township of Nebo, the event brings together seasoned bush poets, first-time performers, and appreciative audiences for an evening steeped in humour, heart, and Aussie tradition.

What began as a small local gathering has grown into a popular regional showcase, where voices from across the state share yarns about country life, mateship, hardship, and the unique beauty of the bush. The event pays tribute to Australia’s rich oral history and keeps the spirit of classic bush poetry alive, all while creating space for new voices to emerge.

Hosted in a relaxed community setting, often accompanied by hearty food and local music, the Nebo Bush Poets night is as much about connection as it is about performance. It draws a wide crowd—from local families and travellers passing through to poetry enthusiasts and cultural custodians—who all come together for a night of laughs, reflection, and authentic storytelling.

Backed by passionate locals and supported by community organisations, the event continues to strengthen Nebo’s reputation as a hub for grassroots arts and culture in the Isaac region.
