Only 22km outside of Clermont lies Theresa Creek Dam, arguably Isaac’s best retreat for locals and tourists alike.

With 300 hectares of the outback oasis to discover, the dam has been notoriously popular since it was built in 1983.

Fundamentally built for water storage and irrigation purposes, this popular spot has proven to be much more for the region.

Two community consultations regarding the future of Theresa Creek Dam have created the dam’s first Concept Development Plan.

The objective of the consultations was to find out what the public wanted to see to improve attraction to the area in March 2022.

Then Council reported back to community to showcase a draft plan with these ideas which included a landscaping upgrade, more recreational offerings such as an expansive playground and improvements to existing camping area.  In October 2022, the second public consultation came out with 400 draft plan downloads and 49 survey responses. The consensus was excitement at the proposed upgrades.

The plan was reviewed, refined and endorsed by Isaac Regional Council on 12 December 2023. (Download here)

In January 2024, Council will advocate for $12 million to the Queensland and Australian governments to invest in one of Isaac’s best camping destinations.

The plan was reviewed, refined and endorsed by Isaac Regional Council on 12 December 2023.
