Clermont water discolouration
Published on 05 March 2026
Council officers are actively monitoring reports of discoloured water in Clermont and are conducting daily testing across the network to ensure water quality is maintained.
The discolouration is a result of the treatment process and Isaac Regional Council’s local water treatment plant operators are working diligently to resolve the issue.
Council wishes to advise residents that the Clermont drinking water supply remains safe to drink and continues to meet all requirements of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, as well as Council’s approved Drinking Water Quality Management Plan.
Residents may experience intermittent pockets of discoloured water until Tuesday next week. While the appearance may be unpleasant, the water is safe to consume. Residents should run taps until the water is clear and report the discolouration to Council. As a precaution, it is advisable to avoid washing light‑coloured clothing during periods of visible discolouration, as the water may temporarily cause staining.
Council appreciates the community’s patience as we continue to manage and resolve this issue.
Continual improvement to the Clermont Water Treatment Plant continues to ensure best quality of water is being produced with an upgrade of the Chemical Dosing Plant. This project is due to be completed mid-June 2026.
