Isaac Regional Council is aware of people impersonating Council through text messages, emails and letters.

If you receive a message that does not seem right, pause before taking any action. Scammers often try to create pressure or urgency to prompt a quick response.

Do not click on any links. Do not open attachments. Do not rely on information in the message. Instead, contact Isaac Regional Council’s customer service centre on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227) so we can confirm whether it is genuine.

There are a few signs that a message may be a scam:

  • Look for spelling and formatting mistakes.
  • Check the sender’s address. Council emails will always come from an address ending in @isaac.qld.gov.au
  • Be cautious of odd fonts, unusual layouts or messages that do not look like our usual communication style.
  • Be wary of requests for personal information or payment details.

Official communication from Council is sent by post with Isaac branding, by email with Coucil’s @isaac.qld.gov.au email handle or by a phone call from an officer who can clearly identify themselves as being from Council.

To learn more about scams or to report suspicious activity, visit www.scamwatch.gov.au

For further information, Council’s customer service centre is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227).
