Update as of Friday, 28 August 2026

Council advises that the issue at the Carmila Water Treatment plant is ongoing.

The quality of raw water from the Carmila Creek bore field remains variable and cannot currently be reliably treated at the Carmila Water Treatment Plant.

As a result, all residents and businesses are asked to continue to moderate their water usage, and to continue to conserve water wherever possible until further notice.

Residents are advised that to ensure consistent potable water supply is available for community, Council is transporting water into Carmila by tanker. This water meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and remains safe for consumption.

Where possible, water required for use outside of the Carmila township should be sourced from alternative supplies whilst Council Officers work to restore normal operations at the Carmila Water Treatment Plant.

While water supply is being maintained, excessive or unnecessary use may impact system stability.

Efforts to bring the treatment process back online continue, including most recently:

  • Delivery of new filter media has been delayed; new estimated date of delivery is Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
  • Orders placed for new raw water pump and water quality analyser pump
  • Ground preparation commenced for new raw water tanks and raw water tank connection design confirmed with tank supplier.
  • Quotes received for cranage and pipework drawings for the installation of new raw water tanks.

In addition to this investigation into the bores, Council is also expecting the delivery of a new raw water tank in early September.

A further weekly update will be provided at 4pm on Tuesday, 1 September 2026.

Council thanks residents and businesses for their cooperation and understanding. For more information, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227), or email records@isaac.qld.gov.au.

Update as of Tuesday, 11 August 2026

Council advises the issue at the Carmila Water Treatment plant is ongoing.

The quality of raw water from the Carmila Creek bore field is still varying, and can't be reliably treated at the Carmila Water Treatment Plant.

We ask residents and businesses to please keep conserving water wherever possible until further notice.

Potable water will keep being brought to Carmila by tanker. This water meets all the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and is safe for consumption.

If you need water that you intend to use outside of Carmila, please source that water from other supplies while Council's Officers work to restore normal operations at the Carmila Water Treatment Plant.

While we work on maintaining a stable water supply for Carmila,  excessive or unnecessary use may set back progress.

We are continuing our efforts to bring the treatment process back online, including inspecting the camera at Bore No. 2.

This is an ongoing issue caused by the bore water quality and is not related to the Clermont Water Treatment Plant issues.
